The Way Back Machine – Best Sellers 2005

  • Pope John Paul II dies, and his funeral is the largest held in the world, with over 4 million people gathering in and around Vatican City (April).
  • Mark Felt, Twin Falls native, is revealed to be Deep Throat, the man who leaked FBI information to Woodward and Bernstein in the Watergate scandal (May).
  • Hurricane Katrina devastates the Gulf Coast, becoming the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history (August).
